Prague 1 calls for a legality check prior to registration

In a statement dated July 17, 2026, Prague 1 demands that registration numbers not be issued automatically to every listing. According to the district, the state should verify the owner, the accommodation provider, the legal right to use the premises, and building compliance, as well as ensure that platforms publish legal listings.
Nothing changes for you for the time being: the Prague 1 statement does not constitute a new obligation. However, if these requirements are incorporated into the law, mere registration in eTurista may not serve as proof that the apartment or space in question can legally be used for accommodation purposes.

K July 25, 2026 eTurista is a system currently under development and linked to the amendment currently being debated. The Ministry of Regional Development (MMR) states that the Czech Republic does not yet apply a registration procedure for short-term rentals. Therefore, do not discontinue your current record-keeping or use of UbyPort.

How the change may affect your operations

Today: continue following current rulesYou continue to maintain the guest register, report foreign nationals via UbyPort, handle local fees, and record individual stays.
Upcoming change: eTuristaeTurista aims to unify the digital recording of accommodation and guests. The exact data to be entered will be determined by the approved rules.
Prague 1: registration number alone may not sufficeThe municipal district requires verification of legal title, building usage status, and platform liability. For now, this represents its position on the proposal.
What you can do right nowSet up check-in and keep guest and stay data in place. You will be able to use this information regardless of the portal's final form.

eTurista is designed to handle the data you already need today: who has arrived, where they are from, the dates of their stay, the type of accommodation, and the specific reservation associated with the stay.

What eTurista means for you in practice

The name of the new portal is not the main issue right now. What matters is that you will likely be submitting data on accommodation and guests in a more standardized and digital manner.

What might change

  • the accommodation registry will become more standardized,
  • accommodation facilities may be assigned a registration number,
  • more data will be transmitted digitally,
  • platforms and authorities will be able to verify data more easily.

What is not yet certain

  • the exact effective date,
  • the final scope of mandatory data,
  • the API specifications and integration with accommodation management systems,
  • when—and if—the new system will replace current procedures.

UbyPort vs. eTurista: the difference in simple terms

You use UbyPort for the current reporting of foreign nationals. eTurista is intended to be a broader registry containing data on both the accommodation facility and individual stays.

  • UbyPort continue using it to report foreign nationals, if this obligation applies to you.
  • eTurista represents a planned change to the broader system of accommodation records.
  • Do not cancel or postpone current obligations until the new rules come into effect.

Who sees your data today and who is to receive it via eTurista

Currently, you submit data on accommodated foreign nationals to the Police of the Czech Republic via UbyPort. eTurista is intended to serve as a broader hub: you enter the data, but each institution receives the scope of information necessary for its specific tasks.

FAQ

Is eTurista mandatory yet?
As of July 25, 2026, no. The Ministry of Regional Development (MMR) still describes eTurista as a system under development and states that the Czech Republic is not yet implementing a registration process for short-term rentals. Check the latest status in MMR materials before changing your procedures.
Will eTurista replace UbyPort?
According to published plans, eTurista is intended to cover a broader scope of record-keeping. However, until the change takes effect and the new procedure is clear, continue handling reports for foreign guests via UbyPort according to current rules.
Will eTurista also track Czech guests?
Available descriptions anticipate broader guest tracking, covering not just foreign nationals but all guests. The specific parties to be registered and the scope of that registration will be determined the rules are officially approved.
Does the position taken by Prague 1 imply a new obligation?
No. Prague 1 is calling for the verification of legal title, the premises' suitability for accommodation use, and platform liability prior to the assignment of a registration number. This represents the district's stance on a pending amendment, not a rule currently in effect.
Will Superhostem support reporting to eTurista?
We cannot yet make a firm promise regarding a completed integration, as the final technical interface has not been finalized. However, Superhostem already allows you to prepare the necessary data today via check-in, guest records, UbyPort, local fees, and reservation management.
